History
Flint Hills Christian church is an independent, Bible believing, Gospel church. Although not formally associated with any denomination or movement, FHCC enjoys the fellowship of like-minded and kindred churches.
In February 1976, an enthusiastic young pastor, Ron Carter, began the journey of Flint Hills Christian Church. Ron served for 15 years. During this time, God grew our young flock and completed two building projects; the current chapel / offices and adjoining youth center. In 1995, Pastor Ken Burns was called to serve as our Preaching Pastor. He faithfully preached the Word until 2007. In 2002, the congregation completed the Harvest House, a multipurpose center, where we currently hold our Sunday morning worship service and adult Sunday school classes.
In September 2007, the Lord brought Dave Hintz to be our Preaching Pastor. He brings strong preaching/teaching gifts with a love for evangelism and pastoring the flock. Additionally, the Lord blessed the flock in 2008 with Pete Lee who serves the flock as our Equipping Pastor. He has a passion to equip “the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Eph 4:12).
FHCC is governed by a plurality of elders who are servant under-shepherds of the Great Shepherd. Our responsibility is to “shepherd the church of God”(Acts 20:28). As a church, we seek to “declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples” (1 Chron 16:24). This is accomplished as we obey the “Great Commandment” (Mark 12:30-31) and fulfill the “Great Commission” (Matt 28:19-20).
Historically and presently FHCC values expository preaching and bringing the good news of reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ to Emporia, Lyon County and the surrounding areas.
